The reception will be held at Green Pastures Restaurant, here in Austin. A historical landmark, Green Pastures is this very neat old Victorian Home turned into a restaurant and special event location. We didn’t even know it was there … but oddly enough, when we tell people we’re having the reception there they typically respond with “oooh, that’s a really nice place.” We agree.

Green Pastures is located just south of downtown Austin, near Oltorff and S. 1st street. The exact address is 811 W Live Oak, 78704. It is tucked away in this weird neighborhood of small homes with really, really high property values (even the ones that are falling apart). You’re driving in this old neighborhood, thinking you’re lost, and suddenly you’re there.

The proximity to downtown will be nice for those of you who want to plan for a night of bar hopping after the reception. We would also recommend out-of-town guests try staying in one of the many downtown hotel options.

The wedding coordinator with GP has been extremely helpful so far, and we hope this continues. She informed us that if people end up needing cabs after the reception, it should be fine to leave a car overnight. Just be sure to pick it up as soon as you can on Saturday.

We didn’t even know this place existed. At a time when we were looking for reception sites, Frank stumbled on this place reading Ain’t It Cool News one morning. It seems Harry Knowles had his wedding at GP. The place looked nice, so we checked it out … and it was! … The wedding coordinator told us Harry Knowles’ wedding was very nice, and super formal … except for Elijah Wood. Apparently Frodo didn’t think enough of the affair to not wear torn jeans and sunglasses.

Oh yeah … and they have peacocks! (please don’t hit a peacock with your car).
